Match Report
07.10.07 - Solway V Rapiers
Result: 5-1
Murrayfield U14 Rapiers travelled to Dumfries for their first league game in two seasons. This was a very young team with a handful of first year 14’s, four U12s playing up and one 2nd year 14, all with previous competitive game experience. The bench also included two in their first season playing ice hockey and one playing her first competitive game.
Coach Youngson’s team talk placed emphasis on making sure the team tried their best and enjoyed the game. The first period was about establishing positional sense and by the end Solway were ahead 4 to1. Kieran Black slotted a left back-handed lob (assisted by Grant Yougson) that deceived the keeper to give the team a lift for the 2nd period. Everyone worked hard to protect the Rapiers’ net-minder and created a number of good scoring chances but with no reward. Final score finished 5 to 1.
Despite the score, the team enjoyed the game and showed good promise for the season ahead.
